RSU 57

In February, sixth graders from Massabesic Middle School raised $1,137 to support hygiene training in a South Sudanese village. Thanks to the generosity of our students and their families, these funds were designated for training during the village’s well-drilling season, which takes place from March to June. Recently, we received photos of the training sessions made possible by this fundraising effort. In the images, trainees proudly pose with a banner displaying our school’s name—a powerful reminder of the positive impact our students have beyond their local community. The hygiene education program focuses on critical topics such as personal hygiene, safe water practices, food safety, and proper waste disposal. By supporting this initiative, our students have helped improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and entire communities. Around the world, access to hygiene education and clean water enables people to stay healthy, attend school, earn an income, and build a brighter future. This initiative strengthens communities and truly "waters the seeds of change" in South Sudanese villages, aligning with the mission of the Iron Giraffe Challenge. RSU 57 is incredibly proud of our students for their compassion and commitment to making a difference. We are also deeply grateful for the support of our families and community members, whose generosity helped make this initiative a success.

Dear MHS Parents, You may receive an increase in attendance notifications for your student because we have updated the settings on attendance calls. Parents/Guardians will now be receiving a call when your student is marked absent by their teacher for one or more blocks in a day. Please check ParentVue after receiving this notification to see what block(s) your student was marked absent for and contact the teacher to confirm if they were in class. If your student is going to be absent for a full day, please notify the office using the attendance line. This is a 24/7 line that allows you to leave a voicemail; we ask that you leave your name, the date, and the reason for absence. -Mr. Thurlow

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of February! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! This month's raffle winner is Sophie Manning, Science Teacher at Massabesic Middle School! "Sophie is a positive, dedicated, and reliable team member. She is always thinking of ways to improve our school and team culture. She has incredible relationships with her students and holds them to a high standard. She is involved both in school and out of school with coaching and is on various boards and committees - all for the better of our students.
