Massabesic High School's National Honor Society organized its first-ever Ugly Sweater Virtual 5K for Kids event this month. Thanks to 67 students and community members who ran the 5K and generous sponsors, we raised over $2,300. One hundred percent of the proceeds went toward purchasing gifts from the giving trees and wish lists in the RSU 57 community. We thank the community for their support, and look forward to making this an annual tradition! Enjoy the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l64di-4wgA&feature=youtu.be

Good evening, This notice is to inform you that an individual at Massabesic High School has tested positive for COVID19. Students and staff identified as close contacts include students at Massabesic High School as well as students who are picked up/dropped off at the All View Terrace Beach Parking Lot bus stop (overflow bus 1373) . If your child has been identified as a close contact you will receive a separate notification. This would mean 7 early release days on the following Wednesdays: 01/13; 02/3; 03/03; 03/24; 04/07; 05/05; 05/26. The Elementary Schools would release early at about 1:15PM. And, the Middle and High Schools would release early at about noon. Before doing so, we would like to understand how this will impact your family in these unique times. Transportation will be for those who currently ride buses. The primary purpose for this time is the same as in previous years - to work with teachers in supporting the educational needs of your children. Given the unique demands of the times, this professional time is especially important for our teachers. School lunch would be served either on site or as a "grab and go" on these days. Remote learning families would continue to access school lunch by way of curbside pick up. Your Response by Tuesday, December 15th is appreciated. Thank you! https://forms.gle/9tLeHyYXrVr8yw9UA

Hope everybody is staying healthy! One of the requirements for participation in Massabesic athletics is to have each student-athlete complete a concussion baseline ImPACT test prior to a contact-practice/event. The reason for this test is to have a baseline of each athlete's "normal" neurocognitive function, which will be used in comparison with their test results after a suspected concussion to help identify any neurocognitive deficiencies due to a concussion. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, baseline testing will be completed at home this year. Please see attached letter that contains the instructions on how to complete the ImPACT test. Testing should be completed in a quiet, distraction-free environment to get valid and accurate results to prevent needing to re-take it. At the high school level, ImPACT tests are valid for 2 years and are required for all incoming freshmen, any student new to athletics at MHS or a student that has a baseline that will expire within their allotted season. Each coach will have a list of the kids who need ImPACT testing based on the current RevTrak registrations. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at emilynicholson@rsu57.org. Please have patience as this is a new process. Thank you, Emily Nicholson, LAT, ATC Athletic Trainer SMHC Sports Performance Center Massabesic High School emilynicholson@rsu57.org

Good afternoon. This notice is to inform you that today the Maine Department of Education has designated York County as “Yellow,” and now has the third highest positivity rate (3.5%) in the State. In keeping with our reopening plan, this means that there will be no changes to our academic program; however, after school programs - including athletics and activities - will be paused until the “Yellow” designation has been lifted. Our ability to keep schools open in service to our communities depends on each of us doing our part. I ask that you follow CDC guidance, especially now as the holidays approach and the spread of the virus continues to increase. Please limit your travel, size of gatherings, and maintain the practice of wearing masks, social distancing and frequent hand washing. Please reach out to your school nurse with any health questions. Be well Mustang Nation.
