On Thursday the 9th, Line Elementary School held its family-teacher conferences and our first Family Night of the year! Family Night was based on a lego theme; students played math games with legos and even got to pick a lego animal and related book to take home! We would like to thank the many families who joined us for conferences to celebrate student learning and Lego Night fun! Special thanks to Mrs. Wescott, Mrs. Kirk, Mr. Raymond, and Ms. Emery for making Family Night such a big success, and to our teachers for hosting positive, learner-centered conferences!

At AES Mrs. Bear's classroom has been named as a winner of the 2023 "Learning A-Z Star Donation Challenge"! This means that her classroom achieved the highest star donation in the entire State of Maine! This enables "Learning A-Z" to donate larger quantities of clean drinking water, nutritious meals and school supplies to a children's humanitarian organization that works worldwide to help communities in need. Students will enjoy a class pizza party to celebrate the occasion!

Alfred Elementary would like to recognize Miss Jenn & Miss Suzanne! Both are part of RSU 57's nutrition department and work on site at AES. They received an unannounced visit from the State of Maine Inspector yesterday. Not only did they received recognition for the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, they received a perfect score from the inspector who shared that this is the only one given so far! Well done, and thank you for your service to all of the students of AES & RSU 57!

Last night, the RSU 57 School Board recognized three MHS students for their outstanding achievements. Senior Hunter VanBrocklin was chosen by the Maine Educators of Gifted and Talented (MEGAT) as the winner of the statewide student "Passionate Changemaker Award". Hunter had the opportunity to speak during the Fall 2023 MEGAT Conference at the end of October. Senior Jacob Lebrun and Junior Walker Vivian wrote essays last Spring for the AMVETS National "Americanism" contest. After advancing from local to state finals, Jacob and Walker won at the national level and attended the 2023 Spirit of America Youth Leadership Conference this past week. Congratulations, all!

Ms. Lessard and Mrs. Larochelle's Kindergarten classes at AES celebrated their completion of learning letters and letter sounds by conducting an ABC Fashion Show!!  Families helped to decorate a vest with an assigned letter. The students had a blast as they walked the runway highlighting their letter vest to strobe lights and high energy music!  The event was a great way to celebrate student learning and achievement!
