Lyman Elementary School Community, You’ve done it again! Every year I am completely humbled and grateful when I see all the gifts and treats rolling in for our Lyman Elementary School Giving Tree program. This Holiday Season we have successfully supported 9 families and 18 students through the Giving Tree. Thank you so much for your immense support and generosity. This community has the most generous and thoughtful helpers. It truly brings me joy seeing people helping others. There’s nothing more pure than when someone gives without expecting anything in return. Lyman community members are givers. This is a small community, but it’s also MIGHTY! I’ve seen how fiercely you support each other and because of that, this community is very strong. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts here at Lyman Elementary School. If you or anyone you know would like to be added to the Lyman Elementary Guidance Department’s support programs list (backpack program, snow gear support, Thanksgiving baskets and the Giving Tree holiday gift support), please contact Mrs. Swasey directly. Today, nine Massabesic High School students attended the SMAA Leadership Summit at Sanford High School. Our athletes engaged with 160 fellow student athletes from the SMAA, taking part in a panel discussion featuring college coaches, listening to a student-led inspirational speaker, and gaining insights from a national speaker on resiliency and perseverance. Thank you to student-athletes' Paige Stephenson, Cassidy Jacobsen, Emmet Carrol, Cam Bradbury, Cam Bouchard, Kyle Abbott, Scott Pelletier, Ella Donovan, and Jocelyn Fryzlewicz for their active participation in the event. They truly represented our RSU 57 athletic program with pride and enthusiasm.

Students at Alfred Elementary enjoyed a virtual presentation by our Nutrition Department that featured November's Harvest of Month; Brassicas! They were able to learn fun and nutritional facts regarding locally grown Maine broccoli, as well as sample a delicious broccoli fritter made directly in their school kitchen.

On Saturday, November 18, Massabesic High School’s NJROTC cadets competed in the All New England Drill League of Navy JROTC against schools from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Saturday’s meeting was one of four annual competitions taking place this fall. The event was an opportunity for students to compete in challenges including physical fitness and to practice leadership, discipline, and good sportsmanship. In the Individual Drill Knockout - an event akin to “Simon Says” for drill knowledge - over 100 students competed to be in the last ten cadets standing. Eligible participants include first, second, and third year cadets only, and once students have earned a “top ten” spot, they can no longer compete in the event. We are proud to share that of the top ten students who finished the Knockout, FIVE of them were from our MHS NJROTC! Congratulations to first year cadets Terver Kinney, Grace Shipman, Alley Heath, Guardian Boedecker (Bonny Eagle), and Aiden Parsons (Bonny Eagle) for their win!
