On Saturday, November 18, Massabesic High School’s NJROTC cadets competed in the All New England Drill League of Navy JROTC against schools from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Saturday’s meeting was one of four annual competitions taking place this fall. The event was an opportunity for students to compete in challenges including physical fitness and to practice leadership, discipline, and good sportsmanship. In the Individual Drill Knockout - an event akin to “Simon Says” for drill knowledge - over 100 students competed to be in the last ten cadets standing. Eligible participants include first, second, and third year cadets only, and once students have earned a “top ten” spot, they can no longer compete in the event. We are proud to share that of the top ten students who finished the Knockout, FIVE of them were from our MHS NJROTC! Congratulations to first year cadets Terver Kinney, Grace Shipman, Alley Heath, Guardian Boedecker (Bonny Eagle), and Aiden Parsons (Bonny Eagle) for their win!

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of November! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! Click the link to view November's Model Mustang Award recipients. Congratulations, all! https://tinyurl.com/4k37b9my

Today 4th and 5th grade students in Ms. Shopland's and Ms. McCarthy's class visited the outdoor classroom space on our nature trail and learned a little bit about tree identification. While on the trail, students also used skills learned in the classroom like measuring circumference of a circle, rounding decimals, division, multiplication, and data collection to estimate the age of trees along the AES trail. We observed some trees that were only about 4 or 5 years old and others that were over 100 years old!
