Thank you to our transportation, operations, food service and instructional staff for navigating unforeseen challenges today. We are also grateful to parents and guardians for their patience as we coordinated getting students home safely this afternoon. Approximately 70% of homes within RSU 57 are currently without power, including three of our schools. As we look to tomorrow, decisions regarding school cancellations will be made at an individual school level. Any closures or cancellations will be relayed to you early tomorrow morning. As crews continue to work towards restoring power, we are mindful of the impacts that these challenges will have on our students and families. Our thoughts are with those who were impacted and we wish you a safe and healthy evening.

All afterschool practices and activities/clubs are cancelled as additional power outages and road closures are likely. All classes offered through Massabesic Adult and Community Education are cancelled for this evening. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Due to severe weather conditions, power outages at three RSU 57 schools and in anticipation of additional weather-related challenges, all elementary schools (Alfred, Line, Lyman, Shapleigh and Waterboro) will be dismissed at 11:30am today. Lunch will be provided prior to dismissal. As there are many road closures, please be patient with your child’s drop-off time. We appreciate your support and understanding during this challenging time.

It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of December! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! Click the link to view December's Model Mustang Award recipients. RSU 57 proudly welcomed the arrival of its first of two electric buses on December 12. The District recently applied for a federal grant program which would provide eligible school districts with electric buses entirely free-of-charge. After a rigorous selection process, RSU 57 was chosen to receive two electric buses. The new electric buses will run on a trial basis to evaluate how they provide value to the RSU 57 Transportation Department. An orientation and safety training was held following the unveiling and was attended by Central Office Administration, Transportation staff, and local EMS/fire departments.
