Marine Biology kiddos had a blast learning about the many career options in the field of Marine Science at the DMR in Boothbay Harbor. They measured, weighed and examined sea urchins, learned about whale entanglement/Right whale conservation, scallop and lobster research and regulations, observed the facilities wet lab, met with a Marine Patrol officer, discussed bio toxins and water quality surrounding the shellfish industry, and collected their own phytoplankton samples to bring back and share with the rest of the class! Overall, an extremely informative, engaging and wonderful field trip!
