District Names RSU 57 Elementary Principals
Today Superintendent Malone announced that RSU 57 Board of Directors has approved restructuring the Elementary Administrative Structure to reflect the current needs of our buildings and community. Assistant Principals Catherine Poulin and Marisa Penney have been appointed to the role of Principal of their respective buildings.
Principal Poulin will assume the responsibility of Alfred Elementary School, where she has been serving as the Assistant Principal. Cindy Pellerin will continue to serve in the capacity of principal at Lyman Elementary School.
Principal Penney will assume the responsibility of Shapleigh Memorial School, where she has been serving as the Assistant Principal. Tim Stinson will continue to serve in the capacity of principal at LINE Elementary School.
The current administrative structure at Waterboro Elementary School will remain unchanged. Principal Madigan and Assistant Principal Humphry will continue to serve in their respective capacities.
The RSU Board of Directors believe that this adjustment will better serve the community and staff of each of the district’s five (5) elementary schools and reflects the current responsibilities of the individual administrators.
We congratulate our new Principals and send appreciation to all Administrators for their work and cooperation in serving the RSU.

On October 9th the USDA announced the extension of free meals to all children 18 and under through the end of the 2020-2021 school year!
Free meals consist of breakfast and lunch and must be a complete reimbursable meal in order to meet federal guidelines. Enrolled, in-person learners may receive free meals while attending school in-person. Remote learners, home schooled children, and any child 18 and under that is not of school age may pre-order meals for pick up by submitting the following form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdADGQNbsN3SNxOr23avHOMyeoo-sw39h5Nq6C0bTgL57MERg/viewform?usp=sf_link
RSU 57 highly recommends that all households continue to submit free and reduced applications for meal price benefits if you feel you may qualify. Each school district receives federal and state funding based on the percentage of students that are approved for free or reduced meal prices. Under counting those eligible for this program could harm many educational programs we rely on to serve our students. Regardless of whether your student chooses to receive school meals or not, it is critical that we properly account for all who are eligible.
If you have any questions related to free meals, meal price benefit applications or remote meal pick up please contact the School Nutrition Department directly by calling (207)247-3221 x2257 or emailing vanessarichardson@rsu57.org

At MHS, our in-person learners are paired up with remote learners for a virtual lab!

Good morning! An update on Chromebook pickup. Many of you have been asking about how you can get your device if you have class. You may come down during your lunch/Mustang time, a family member could bring down your device to exchange it if you have a second device at home, or you can wait until next week. Thank you!

A school by school update has been posted to the website.

Dear Staff, Students, and Families,
This notice is to inform you that an individual at Massabesic High School has been identified by the Maine CDC as a “probable positive” for COVID-19. As a result of the Maine CDC contact tracing process, RSU 57 has been informed that members of the MHS community are considered “close contacts”. MHS families impacted have been notified and will initiate their quarantine today, per Maine CDC guidelines. We are working closely with Maine CDC to monitor our situation.
Importantly, however, as a result of staffing shortages from quarantine necessities, Massabesic High School will continue to be fully remote learning through at least October 9th.
An update regarding each school in the district will be posted to the website and shared with you later today.
Thank you

Good afternoon! All high school students may pick up their new Chromebooks tomorrow at the East Building between 8-2. You will need to turn in the old device and power cord in order to receive the new one. There will be times next week as well in order to pick up the new Chromebooks. Staff will meet you outside in order to make the exchange.

Student pictures, for both remote and in person learners, scheduled for this Friday have been postponed. We are awaiting a make up date from Lifetouch. MHS Campus Staff will still have their pictures taken this Friday. Staff pictures will be taken in the MHS Auditorium. Further details on staff photos will be coming shortly.
All students will need to be photographed on the make up date for administrative purposes, student ID's and this year students Meal bar codes will be added to their ID. It will be important to have everyone's picture done even if you are not ordering a package.
