It is with great excitement and pride that we announce the recipients of the Model Mustang Staff Award for the month of April! This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Their hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact they have within RSU 57! This month's winner is Jackie Chaplin from Alfred Elementary! "Jackie is a leader in our building through and through. She volunteers in a multitude of ways to support a variety of areas in our school. This includes direct instruction, individualized student support, community outreach, school-wide positive behavioral support implementation and "in the moment" help when needed. She always goes the extra mile, especially when she knows it will benefit our school community and is in the best interest of our kids. :) Thank you Jackie for all that you give, please know how appreciated you are!" As a bus driver, I have the freedom to enjoy summers, holidays, and weekends off. It’s been a game-changer! I can finally enjoy life outside of work on my own terms and spend quality time with my family.
Having great healthcare and dental coverage means I can breathe easy knowing I’m covered when I need it. It’s like a safety net that lets me focus on doing what I love without any added stress. Big thumbs up to RSU 57 for looking out for their drivers!
Transporting kids from kindergarten to graduation isn't just a job; it's a privilege. As the first face students see in the morning, I know I'm setting the stage for their success. Over the years, I’ve gotten to really know the students and their families and those relationships are part of what makes being a bus driver so special.
Working as a bus driver at RSU 57 is ideal for me as a parent. The convenient commute and schedule align perfectly with my family's needs, allowing me to be there for my kids while still pursuing a fulfilling career. It's the best of both worlds!

Last night, the RSU 57 School Board recognized several individual and group achievements of students across the district. First was the MHS Theatre Troupe, which placed third at the Class A Regional One Act Festival in March. Students performed "Wild Strawberries"; a play which is rooted in physical comedy in the style of commedia dell'arte. Several awards were given to the Troupe, including several "All Cast" awards, commendations for costume design, and they received the ensemble award! Next, MMS 8th Grader Julia Bryant was recognized for her achievement as York County's Spelling Bee Champ for the second year in a row! Julia proudly represented RSU 57 at the State Spelling Bee in March at Bowdoin College. Finally, the MHS Jazz Band was recognized for their performance at the MMEA All State Music Festival. Many soloists received commendations, and the band received a silver rating! Congratulations, all!

Dear RSU 57 Community. Due to a forecast of continued inclement weather throughout the evening and into the morning hours, combined with power outages encompassing the majority of our 6 communities, all RSU 57 schools and offices will be closed on Friday April 5. RSU 57 Operations staff are asked to check with their supervisor regarding their schedule. With this snow day, the final day for students in RSU 57 is now Wednesday June 12. We are hoping all our students, staff and families remain safe throughout this storm.

Alfred Elementary first grade students displayed their animal research and habitat dioramas during a museum walk this week. Our first graders worked exceptionally hard in researching, building, and crafting their animals and habitats. First students chose an animal of interest, then researched specific facts about the animal including their habitat, adaptations, life cycle, and fun facts. Next students painted and decorated their shoebox dioramas. Afterwards, students used clay to create a model of their animal for their habitat. It was extremely rewarding for our first graders to present their exhibits and knowledge to others. We are so proud of all their hard work!
