Today at Alfred students in 5th grade were part of a Zoom with the National Park Service in St Louis Missouri. Students learned about Ulysses Grant as a man, a president, and slaveholder. Students looked at various historical documents to determine what happened to William Jones, Ulysses S. Grant's one and only slave once he was emancipated. A ranger from the National Park Service helped students to examine the documents and learn more about William Jones and his life as an emancipated citizen. This was an interactive presentation that allowed students to ask questions and to interact with students from other schools across America!
Congrats to Ben Stevens from Alfred Elementary for qualifying to compete in the Maine State GeoBee on March 27th! Ben will travel to the University of Maine at Farmington. Good luck Ben!

Kindergarten registration for fall 2020 opens on Monday, February 24, 2020. Registration can be completed online and includes a meeting with our District Registrar. If you have a student that already attends one of the district PreK programs there is no need to register them as they are already in the system. Thank you

Elijah and Gregory from Alfred & Lyman attended a field trip to the Animal Welfare Society! Students received a tour of the facility, learned how to approach & handle animals, and even played with cats & a dog! They had a unique opportunity to hold two baby Snowy Coturnix Quails!
"Girls on the Run" is coming to Alfred Elementary! This physical activity-based positive youth development program is open to all girls in grades 3-5! Please reach out if you are interested!
