Fall Sports begin next week Good evening, As I am sure you are aware York County’s color designation was changed to Green today. We are beginning fall sports practices next week. Cross Country will begin Monday with the other programs to begin Tuesday. For teams starting on Tuesday myself or the coaches will be reaching out for team player and parent organizational meetings to be help Monday evening. This will cover logistics for the following day. We do encourage those who can dress for practice to do so. All players must be registered through REVTRAK to participate. We have re-opened REVTRAK and it is open now. Also we have called all who registered and did not have a current physical. Those must be on file in order to begin. Please send that information to Nancy Sobanik at nancysobanik@rsu57.org. This is exciting news and I can’t wait to see you next week!

School remote devices
Good Morning, As I’m sure many of you are aware, the Department of Education as well as the Department of Health and Human Services responded yesterday to the Maine Principals Associations plans for Interscholastic Athletics in Maine High Schools. Additionally yesterday the guidelines for community recreation have been updated by the Maine Department of Economic and Community development. DOE and DHHS have returned the plan for restarting interscholastic athletics to the MPA and have also asked for more time for schools to reopen safely before athletic activity. As a result, we await further State agency guidance regarding all fall interscholastic activities. We fully understand the frustration many are feeling at this time and we ask that you stay positive. We will keep you updated as this situation continues to evolve. Thank you! Sincerely, Brendan Scully Activities Director RSU 57

Maine Principals Association New Release 8-19-20 We are presented with an unprecedented situation with the COVID-19 virus and continue to map the way as we move forward in a hopeful return to some fall activities. Currently, there has been no decision made regarding the fall season. The MPA Sports Medicine Committee, and individual sport committees, along with guidance from the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), will look at each individual activity and a possible safe return for athletes, coaches, officials, and fans. We continue to work cooperatively with the Maine Department of Education, the Governor’s Office, DHHS, DECD, and the CDC, as well as Maine Athletic Directors, Superintendents, and School Boards as we develop possible guidelines regarding school athletics and activities. We understand that a decision needs to be made and assure you that one will be made in a timely fashion. We also would like to take an opportunity to thank each one of you that serve on an MPA Committee we could not do it without you! I also want to thank so many of you for your words of support they are very much appreciated!

Activities / Athletics Update- At this time there is nothing new to report in terms of the spring sports season at MHS and MMS. For now the statement from the MPA of a 4/27 return stands and I will keep everyone updated if that changes. Stay tuned for updates!

Message on Spring Sports from the Maine Principals Association To: MPA Member Schools From: Maine Principals’ Association Date: March 16, 2020 Subject: Delay of Spring Sports ************************************************************************************************ This memo is being sent out to schools to help clarify the delay of the spring sports season. As the entire state deals with the Coronavirus Disease, and the impact that it is having on all Maine schools, we wanted to send out a statement regarding how each of you can assist us during this down time. We would ask each school to treat this time similarly to how you would treat the hands-off time between seasons and during the two-week period in early August. There should not be any organized team activity between now and the start of the spring season. Coaches should not be organizing individual workout plans for their athletes and there should be no expectation that athletes participate in any type of an organized training program. Please know that as soon as we can begin the spring sports season that we will do so, but during this very uncertain time that we ask each of you to help us out by following these guidelines.
