Athletics / Activities Update- 1-2-21 Happy New Year! Here is to 2021 being a drastic improvement from 2020! As many of you are aware the Sate County review which occurred Thursday has once again placed York County in the Yellow color designation which means there will be no in person meetings after school hours for clubs, activities and athletics. It was announced the next review will come on January 14th. In the mean time we will not be able to hold in person meetings, practices or games. We appreciate the frustration this causes and how much our kids need these programs as an outlet. We will continue to be prepared to go when we get the "Green" light. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to getting back at it as soon as it is safe to do so. If. you have any questions please reach out to me directly. firstname.lastname@example.org. 207-247-3141. ext 2216. Thank you!
Check out the Varsity Boys Basketball Teams Team Store. Proceeds from all sales will go to support the Boys Basketball Program. Check it out! Go to mhsbball2020.itemorder.com The program is being run through Wights Sporting Goods. Happy Holidays!
Hope everybody is staying healthy! One of the requirements for participation in Massabesic athletics is to have each student-athlete complete a concussion baseline ImPACT test prior to a contact-practice/event. The reason for this test is to have a baseline of each athlete's "normal" neurocognitive function, which will be used in comparison with their test results after a suspected concussion to help identify any neurocognitive deficiencies due to a concussion. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, baseline testing will be completed at home this year. Please see attached letter that contains the instructions on how to complete the ImPACT test. Testing should be completed in a quiet, distraction-free environment to get valid and accurate results to prevent needing to re-take it. At the high school level, ImPACT tests are valid for 2 years and are required for all incoming freshmen, any student new to athletics at MHS or a student that has a baseline that will expire within their allotted season. Each coach will have a list of the kids who need ImPACT testing based on the current RevTrak registrations. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at email@example.com. Please have patience as this is a new process. Thank you, Emily Nicholson, LAT, ATC Athletic Trainer SMHC Sports Performance Center Massabesic High School firstname.lastname@example.org

Fall Sports begin next week Good evening, As I am sure you are aware York County’s color designation was changed to Green today. We are beginning fall sports practices next week. Cross Country will begin Monday with the other programs to begin Tuesday. For teams starting on Tuesday myself or the coaches will be reaching out for team player and parent organizational meetings to be help Monday evening. This will cover logistics for the following day. We do encourage those who can dress for practice to do so. All players must be registered through REVTRAK to participate. We have re-opened REVTRAK and it is open now. Also we have called all who registered and did not have a current physical. Those must be on file in order to begin. Please send that information to Nancy Sobanik at email@example.com. This is exciting news and I can’t wait to see you next week!

About 75% of devices for remote learners were picked up this week! We’re open at MMS until 7 pm tonight. After today, devices may be picked up at your child’s school. If you are picking up tomorrow, please call the school first.
Good Morning, As I’m sure many of you are aware, the Department of Education as well as the Department of Health and Human Services responded yesterday to the Maine Principals Associations plans for Interscholastic Athletics in Maine High Schools. Additionally yesterday the guidelines for community recreation have been updated by the Maine Department of Economic and Community development. DOE and DHHS have returned the plan for restarting interscholastic athletics to the MPA and have also asked for more time for schools to reopen safely before athletic activity. As a result, we await further State agency guidance regarding all fall interscholastic activities. We fully understand the frustration many are feeling at this time and we ask that you stay positive. We will keep you updated as this situation continues to evolve. Thank you! Sincerely, Brendan Scully Activities Director RSU 57
