The Transportation Department at RSU 57 is comprised of 38 school bus drivers, 11, Van Drivers, 9 Bus/Van Monitors, 1 Dispatcher, 1 Administrative Assistant, 2 Mechanics and 1 Director. Along with numerous part-time staff that ensure we always have coverage and the wheels keep turning!

Our staff is committed to the safe transportation of all of our students in RSU 57. Each morning our drivers perform a pre-trip inspection on their assigned vehicles ensuring that they are safe and free of defects before they leave on their routes. Last year our fleet of 48 school buses and 13 vans logged over 1.1 million miles transporting students to-and-from school, on field trips and athletic trips.

All of our buses are equipped with GPS systems to track the location and speed of our vehicles. They are also equipped with interior security cameras with audio to monitor occupant behavior. Some of our buses that have bus routes in higher traffic areas have exterior stop arm cameras as well as 5 buses now have 6 foot stop arms that extend into the other travel lane to ensure motorists are stopping. Also, all of our buses that we purchase are equipped with Rapid-Flash LED Warning Lights. These features are added safety measures we take to ensure safe student transportation across all the towns we serve.
